BELFAST MAN FINED FOR BENEFIT FRAUD

A man was convicted at Belfast Magistrate’s Court today for claiming benefit he was not entitled to.

Eric McAuley of Orby Drive, Belfast was fined £1,000 for failing to disclose his savings while in receipt of Jobseeker’s Allowance. The total amount of overpayment was £6,581 which Mr McAuley has already repaid in full to the Social Security Agency.

This brings to 96 the number of convictions secured so far this year by the Social Security Agency in its campaign against benefit fraud.
