BANGOR MAN CONVICTED OF £8,000 BENEFIT FRAUD

A man was convicted at Bangor Magistrate’s Court today for claiming benefit he was not entitled to.

James McGrath (60) of Belmont Avenue, Bangor had failed to disclose his savings while claiming Job Seeker’s Allowance to the value of £8,743. He was fined £400.00 and will also have to repay the money he received to the Social Security Agency.

This brings to 94 the number of convictions secured so far this year by the Social Security Agency in its campaign against benefit fraud.
