BELFAST BENEFIT FRAUDSTERS CONVICTED
Two women were convicted in Belfast Magistrates’ court today for benefit fraud offences.
Georgina McGahey (32), of Devonshire Way, Belfast had falsely obtained £720 Income Support between September 2004 and January 2005. She was given 18 months probation and was ordered to pay court costs of £22.
Paula McAnoy (27), of Roden Way, Belfast had fraudulently cashed Income Support cheques in February and November 2005 amounting to £125. She was given 18 months conditional discharge and ordered to pay £22 costs.
Both women are required to repay the money they received to the Social Security Agency.
This brings to 93 the total number of convictions this year in the Agency’s ongoing benefit fraud campaign.
