HANSON SETS OUT HOUSING CHALLENGES
The Social Development Minister, David Hanson MP, spelt out the housing challenges ahead to the Conference of the Isles in Armagh today.
In a wide-ranging speech he referred to the Affordability Review being undertaken by Sir John Semple whose report will be published within the next few weeks. This will cover issues including managing and delivering a social housing development programme and addressing the needs of the disabled, the homeless and responding to increasing waiting lists.
The Minister said: “Many challenges lie ahead to provide private and social rented housing that takes account of the needs of all citizens while at the same time making effective use of public and private resources.
“The challenge will be to ensure that housing solutions are cost effective as well as ensuring that they meet the needs of client groups”.
