THREE FINED FOR BENEFIT FRAUD AT CRAIGAVON COURT

Three men were convicted at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court today for obtaining benefits to which they were not entitled.

Kevin McGeown (26) of Moss Road, Craigavon was fined £200 for claiming Job Seeker’s Allowance of £220 while working.

Laurence Casey (48) of Castle Lane, Lurgan was fined £250 for claiming Job Seeker’s Allowance and Housing Benefit to the value of £606 while working.

Robert Wallace (33) of Princeton Avenue, Lurgan was fined £200 for wrongfully cashing benefit cheques to the value of £95.00.

All three will have to repay the money they fraudulently claimed to the Social Security Agency.

This brings to 66 the number of convictions secured so far this year by the Social Security Agency in its campaign against benefit fraud.
