CRAIGAVON MAN CONVICTED OF £16,447 BENEFIT FRAUD
A man was convicted at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court today for fraudulently claiming Income Support and Rates (Housing Benefit) between July 1998 and January 2005.
Stanley John McKinney (59), of Cambrai Heights, Craigavon had falsely obtained £13,350 Income Support and £3,097 Rates. He was fined a total of £900 on nine separate charges and ordered to pay £91 Court Costs. He has already repaid the money he claimed to the Social Security Agency.
Also today in Craigavon Sharon Burns (29), of Ardown, Monbrief, Craigavon was convicted for falsely obtaining £109 Income Support between December 2005 and January 2006.
Ms Burns was given 12 months probation and ordered to pay £19 costs. She will also be required to repay the money to the Social Security Agency.
This brings to 51 the number of successful prosecutions by the Agency so far this year.
