COOKSTOWN WOMAN CONVICTED OF £2,600 BENEFIT FRAUD

A woman was convicted at Magherafelt Magistrates’ Court today for failing to declare savings whilst claiming Income Support.

Joanne Devlin (39), of Drapersfield Road, Cookstown was convicted for falsely claiming £2,607 between February 2003 and March 2005. She was given six months conditional discharge and is required to repay the money she received to the Social Security Agency.

This is the 34th successful prosecution by the Social Security Agency so far this year.
