STRABANE WOMAN FINED FOR COMMITTING BENEFIT FRAUD
A woman was convicted at Strabane Magistrates’ Court today for obtaining benefits to which she was not entitled.
Julie Lindsay (30) of Canalside, Strabane was fined £75.00 for wrongfully cashing Income Support cheques to the value of £201.00 during June 2005. She will also have to repay the money she fraudulently claimed to the Social Security Agency.
This is the 10th conviction of 2007. Last year 257 convictions were secured by the Social Security Agency in its campaign against benefit fraud.
