THREE CONVICTED OF BENEFIT FRAUD AT DERRY COURT
Two men and a woman were convicted of benefit fraud at Londonderry Magistrates' Court today.
Deborah Sheehan (41) of Marianus Park, Londonderry was given a six month prison sentence, suspended for two years for claiming Income Support and Housing Benefit to the value of £55,382 while failing to disclose her savings.
Rory O'Connor (34) of Muldonagh Road, Londonderry was given a conditional discharge for claiming Job Seeker's Allowance to the value of £1,383 while working.
Edward Bell (19) of Nicholson Gardens, Londonderry was given a conditional discharge for claiming Job Seeker's Allowance of £311 while working. All three will have to repay the money they received to the Social Security Agency.
This brings to 255 the number of convictions secured by the Social Security Agency this year in its campaign against benefit fraud.
