BELFAST WOMAN CONVICTED OF £13,817 BENEFIT FRAUD
A woman was convicted at Downpatrick Magistrates' Court yesterday for failing to declare savings and fraudulently obtaining Income Support.
Susan Clarke (39), of Knocknagoney Gardens, was convicted for falsely obtaining £13,817 between January 2001 and March 2005. She was given a three month sentence suspended for 12 months. She is also required to repay the money she received to the Social Security Agency.
This is the 240th successful prosecution by the Social Security Agency so far this year.
