ENNISKILLEN MAN CONVICTED OF £26,000 BENEFIT FRAUD

A man was convicted at Enniskillen Magistrates' Court today for obtaining benefits to which he was not entitled.

Donal McGrath (53) of Rossharbour, Leggs, Enniskillen was given a four month prison sentence suspended for two years and a £500 fine for claiming Income Support and Housing Benefit to the value of £26,805 while failing to disclose his savings. The offences occurred between July 2000 and August 2003.

Mr McGrath will also have to repay the money he received to the Social Security Agency.

This is the 225th conviction secured by the Social Security Agency this year in its campaign against benefit fraud.
