DERRY MAN CONVICTED OF £23,000 BENEFIT FRAUD
A man was convicted at Londonderry Magistrates' Court yesterday for obtaining benefits to which he was not entitled.
Stephen Brown (41) of Moyola Drive, Londonderry was given a three year conditional discharge for claiming Income Support to the value of £23,324 while failing to disclose his savings. The offences occurred between July 1999 and May 2005.
Mr Brown will also have to repay the money he received to the Social Security Agency.
This is the 224th conviction secured by the Social Security Agency this year in its campaign against benefit fraud.
