LONDONDERRY MAN CONVICTED OF BENEFIT FRAUD
A man was convicted at Londonderry Magistrates' Court yesterday for obtaining benefits to which he was not entitled.
Terence McLaughlin (27) of Milldale Crescent, Londonderry was given a two year conditional discharge for wrongfully claiming Job Seekers Allowance to the value of £530. The offences occurred between December 2003 and February 2004.
Mr McLaughlin will also have to repay the money he received to the Social Security Agency.
This is the 223rd conviction secured by the Social Security Agency this year in its campaign against benefit fraud.
