DERRY MAN GETS CONDITIONAL DISCHARGE FOR BENEFIT FRAUD

A man was convicted at Londonderry Magistrates' Court yesterday for obtaining benefits to which he was not entitled.

James Green (33), of Maureen Avenue, Londonderry was given a two year conditional discharge for wrongfully cashing Income Support cheques to the value of £182. He will also have to repay the money he received to the Social Security Agency.

This is the 221st conviction secured by the Social Security Agency this year in its campaign against benefit fraud.
