STRABANE MAN CONVICTED OF BENEFIT FRAUD
A man was convicted at Strabane Magistrates' Court yesterday for obtaining benefits to which he was not entitled.
Gerard Houston (22) of Ballycolman Estate, Strabane was fined £300 for wrongfully cashing Income Support cheques to the value of £233. The offences occurred in June and November 2003. Mr Houston will also have to repay the money he received to the Social Security Agency.
This is the 211th conviction secured by the Social Security Agency this year in its campaign against benefit fraud.
