TWO BELFAST WOMEN CONVICTED OF BENEFIT FRAUD

Two women were convicted at Belfast Magistrates' Court today for obtaining benefits to which they were not entitled.

Leanne Harrison (21) of Silvio Street, Belfast received a 12 month conditional discharge and a £75 fine for wrongfully cashing Income Support cheques to the value of £305.

Teresa Quinn (31) of Norglen Drive also received a conditional discharge and £75 fine for wrongfully cashing Incapacity Benefit cheques to the value of £159.

These bring to 210 the total number of convictions secured by the Social Security Agency this year in its campaign against benefit fraud.
