BALLYMENA MAN CONVICTED OF BENEFIT FRAUD

A man was convicted at Ballymena Magistrate's Court today for obtaining benefits to which he was not entitled.

Christopher McFall (26) of Queen Street, Ballymena, was fined £100 for wrongfully cashing benefit cheques to the value of £209. The offences occurred in January 2004. Mr McFall will also have to repay the money he received to the Social Security Agency.

This conviction is the 171st secured by the Social Security Agency this year in its campaign against benefit fraud.
