STRABANE WOMAN CONVICTED OF £12,000 BENEFIT FRAUD

A woman was convicted at Strabane Magistrate's Court today for obtaining benefits to which she was not entitled.

Corrina Lindsay (35) of Lismore Grove, Sion Mills, Strabane was given 12 months probation for claiming Income Support and Housing Benefit to the value of £12,323 while failing to declare that she was living with her partner. The offences occurred between April 2003 and September 2004.

Miss Lindsay has to repay the money she received to the Social Security Agency.

This conviction is the 167th secured by the Social Security Agency this year in its campaign against benefit fraud.
