GORTFOYLE HOUSE SPRUCED UP AND OPEN FOR BUSINESS

Minister for Social Development, David Hanson MP has welcomed the opening of Gortfoyle House, Londonderry following its £300,000 facelift.

Gortfoyle House, a well known local landmark on Spencer Road in the city, has been redeveloped into six new high quality office units. The Department for Social Development's (DSD) North West Development Office worked closely with the Waterside Development Trust throughout the refurbishment work.

Welcoming the official opening of the Gortfoyle House complex, Minister for Social Development David Hanson MP said: "My Department has worked closely with the Waterside Development Trust to ensure that this project was successfully implemented.

"The refurbishment of Gortfoyle House will help consolidate the positive work that DSD has been undertaking in the Waterside over a long period of time.

"The redevelopment work that my Department is undertaking in partnership with other sectors and agencies, such as the Waterside Development Trust, is delivering social, economic and physical regeneration. This, in turn, is creating new opportunities and making the Waterside and indeed the wider city a more attractive place in which to invest, work and live.

"Initiatives such as the refurbishment of Gortfoyle House are helping to create the jobs and facilities that people need. DSD's ongoing environmental improvements in the Spencer Road/Duke Street area and the current master planning exercises underway for three major development sites in the Waterside provide the framework to continue delivering real regeneration benefits and bring about dramatic transformation in the coming years."
