WOMAN GETS COMMUNITY SERVICE FOR £47,000 BENEFIT FRAUD
A woman was convicted at Craigavon Magistrates' Court today for obtaining benefits to which she was not entitled.
Amelia Marie Toomey (53) of Parknasilla Way, Aghagallon, Lurgan was given 40 hours community service for claiming Income Support and Housing Benefit to the value of £47,456 while failing to declare her savings.
Ms Toomey has to repay the money she received to the Social Security Agency.
This conviction is the 164th secured by the Social Security Agency this year in its campaign against benefit fraud.
