NEWTOWNABBEY WOMAN CONVICTED OF BENEFIT FRAUD

A woman was convicted at Belfast Magistrates Court today for obtaining benefits to which she was not entitled.

Michelle Rafferty (28) of Elmfield Road, Newtownabbey was fined £75 and given a 12 month conditional discharge for wrongfully cashing Income Support cheques to the value of £167.64.

Miss Rafferty has to repay the money she received to the Social Security Agency.

This conviction is the 160th secured by the Social Security Agency this year in its campaign against benefit fraud.
