WOMAN GETS SUSPENDED SENTENCE FOR £21,000 BENEFIT FRAUD
A woman was convicted at Belfast Magistrates Court today for obtaining benefits to which she was not entitled.
Agnes Ferguson (36) of Albert Road, Carrickfergus was sentenced to 12 months in prison suspended for three years, for working while claiming Income Support and Housing Benefit to the value of £21,115. The offences occurred between August 2002 and February 2004.
Mrs Ferguson has to repay the money she received to the Social Security Agency.
This conviction is the 159th secured by the Social Security Agency this year in its campaign against benefit fraud.
