BELFAST WOMAN CONVICTED OF BENEFIT FRAUD

A woman was convicted at Belfast Magistrates Court today for obtaining benefits to which she was not entitled.

Sharlene Ireland (20) of Connaught Street, Belfast was given a two year conditional discharge for wrongfully cashing Social Fund cheques to the value of £431.

Miss Ireland has to repay the money she received to the Social Security Agency.

This conviction is the 154th secured by the Social Security Agency this year in its campaign against benefit fraud.
