MAN FINED FOR FRAUDULENTLY CASHING BENEFIT CHEQUES

A man was convicted of benefit fraud at Belfast Magistrates' Court today.

James McCartney (32), of Forfar Street, Belfast, was fined £150, plus £40 costs, for cashing Income Support cheques valued at £192 to which was not entitled.

This is the 147th successful prosecution for benefit fraud taken by the Social Security Agency so far this year.
