MAN GETS SUSPENDED SENTENCES FOR £18,294 BENEFIT FRAUD
A Muckamore man who falsely claimed social security benefits totalling £18,294 was convicted at Antrim Magistrate's Court today.
Wesley Todd (48), of Ballybentragh Road, had claimed Income Support and Carers' Allowance whilst he was in employment. He was given a six month suspended prison sentence on each of four charges. The offences occurred between January 2001 and December 2003. Mr Todd is also required by the Social Security Agency to repay the money that he wrongly obtained.
This is the 125th successful prosecution for benefit fraud by the Social Security Agency so far this year.
