WOMAN GETS CONDITIONAL DISCHARGE FOR BENEFIT FRAUD

A woman was convicted at Belfast Magistrates Court today for obtaining benefits to which she was not entitled.

Mandy Waite (29) of Sunningdale Crescent, Carrickfergus was given a 2 year conditional discharge for wrongfully cashing Social Fund cheques to the value of £160. The offences occurred during November 2004.

Miss Waite has to repay the money she received to the Social Security Agency.

This conviction is the 107th secured by the Social Security Agency this year in its campaign against benefit fraud.
