CARRICKFERGUS WOMAN CONVICTED OF £9,000 BENEFIT FRAUD

A woman was convicted at Belfast Magistrates Court today for obtaining benefits to which she was not entitled.

Kelly Hamilton (32) of Prospect Park, Carrickfergus was given a 12 month conditional discharge for claiming Income Support to value of £9,740 while failing to declare that she was living with her partner. The offences occurred between October 2003 and January 2005.

Miss Hamilton has to repay the money she received to the Social Security Agency.

This conviction is the 106th secured by the Social Security Agency this year in its campaign against benefit fraud.
