LONDONDERRY MAN CONVICTED OF BENEFIT FRAUD
A man was convicted at Londonderry Magistrates Court yesterday for obtaining benefits to which he was not entitled.
Patrick Kelly (59) of Edenmore Street, Londonderry was given a 12 month conditional discharge for claiming Income Support to the value of £4,335 while failing to declare savings. The offences occurred between September 2003 and March 2005.
Mr Kelly has also repaid the money he received to the Social Security Agency.
This case is the latest success in the Social Security Agency's campaign against benefit fraud. There have been 100 successful convictions since the start of the year.
