LONDONDERRY MAN GETS SUSPENDED SENTENCE FOR BENEFIT FRAUD
A man was convicted at Londonderry Magistrates Court yesterday for obtaining benefits to which he was not entitled.
Brian Saunders (44) of Benview Estate, Coshquin, Londonderry, was given a 3-month prison sentence, suspended for two years for claiming Incapacity Benefit and Income Support to the value of £9,692 while working.
Mr Saunders also has to repay the money he received to the Social Security Agency.
This case is the latest success in the Social Security Agency's campaign against benefit fraud. There have been 98 successful convictions since the start of the year.
