NEWTOWNABBEY WOMAN CONVICTED OF BENEFIT FRAUD

A woman was convicted at Belfast Magistrates Court today for obtaining benefits to which she was not entitled.

Kerry Lundy (27) of Green Acres, Newtownabbey was fined £200 for claiming Income Support and Incapacity Benefit to the value of £1,938 while working. The offences occurred between June and November 2004.

Miss Lundy also has to repay the money she received to the Social Security Agency.

This case is the latest success in the Social Security Agency's campaign against benefit fraud. There have been 94 successful convictions since the start of the year.
