LURGAN WOMAN CONVICTED OF BENEFIT FRAUD

A woman was convicted at Craigavon Magistrate's Court yesterday for obtaining benefits to which she was not entitled.

Tracey Malone (33) of Spelga Park, Lurgan was fined £300 and given a conditional discharge for two years for claiming Job Seekers Allowance to the value of £4,661 while working. The offences occurred between February 2003 and March 2004.

Ms Malone has to repay the money she received to the Social Security Agency.

This case is the latest success in the Social Security Agency's campaign against benefit fraud. There have been 61 successful convictions since the start of the year.
