BANBRIDGE MAN JAILED FOR BENEFIT FRAUD
A man who claimed benefits whilst working was given three prison sentences at Banbridge Magistrates' Court today.
Christopher McLarnon (36), of Hillside Crescent, Banbridge, was given a three-month sentence on each of three offences for falsely claiming Income Support, Incapacity Benefit and Housing Benefit totalling £585. The offences occurred between April and May 2004.
Mr McLarnon is also required to pay back the money he obtained to the Social Security Agency.
This case is the latest success in the Social Security Agency's campaign against benefit fraud. There have been 59 successful convictions since the start of the year.
