BELFAST MAN GETS SUSPENDED PRISON SENTENCE FOR BENEFIT FRAUD
A man was convicted at Castlereagh Magistrates Court yesterday for obtaining benefits to which he was not entitled.
Terence Connolly (43) of Ardenlee Park, Belfast was given a 5 month prison sentence suspended for 12 months and fined £375 for falsely claiming Job Seeker's Allowance to the value of £2777. The offences occurred between March 2003 and July 2003. Mr Connolly has to repay the money he received to the Social Security Agency. This case is the latest success in the Social Security Agency's campaign against benefit fraud. There have been 52 successful convictions since the start of the year.
