LISBURN MAN CONVICTED OF BENEFIT FRAUD

A man was convicted at Lisburn Magistrates Court today for obtaining benefits to which he was not entitled.

Ross Preece (25) of Johnston Way, Lisburn was given a 12 month conditional discharge for falsely claiming Income Support and another 12 month discharge for falsely claiming Invalid Care Allowance. The total amount of the overpayment was £2,916.

Mr Preece has to repay the money he received to the Social Security Agency.

This case is the latest success in the Social Security Agency's campaign against benefit fraud. There have been 52 successful convictions since the start of the year.
