BALLYNAHINCH WOMAN CONVICTED OF BENEFIT FRAUD

A woman was convicted at Downpatrick Magistrates Court today for obtaining benefits to which she was not entitled.

Margaret Maguire (45) of Langley Road, Ballynahinch was given a 2 year conditional discharge for claiming Incapacity Benefit to the value of £3,828 while working. The offences occurred between October 2002 and March 2004.

Mrs Maguire has to repay the money she received to the Social Security Agency.

This case is the latest success in the Social Security Agency's campaign against benefit fraud. There have been 51 successful convictions since the start of the year.
