BELFAST MAN CONVICTED OF BENEFIT FRAUD

A man was convicted at Belfast Magistrate's Court yesterday for obtaining benefits to which he was not entitled.

Anthony Cahill (24) of Grosvenor House, Grosvenor Road was fined £300 for wrongfully claiming Income Support to the value of £754. The offences occurred between June 2003 and October 2003.

Mr Cahill has to repay the money he received to the Social Security Agency.

This case is the latest success in the Social Security Agency's campaign against benefit fraud. There have been 48 successful convictions since the start of the year.
