BELFAST MAN CONVICTED OF £14,000 BENEFIT FRAUD
A man was convicted at Belfast Magistrate's Court yesterday for obtaining benefits to which he was not entitled.
Thomas Crossett (57), of West Circular Road, Belfast was given a conditional discharge for two years after being found guilty of claiming Income Support to the value of £14,420 while having undeclared savings. The offences occurred between March 1999 and September 2004.
Mr Crossett has to repay the money he received to the Social Security Agency.
This case is the latest success in the Social Security Agency's campaign against benefit fraud. There have been 38 successful convictions since the start of the year.
