BALLYCLARE WOMAN CONVICTED OF £5,256 BENEFIT FRAUD
A woman was convicted at Belfast Magistrates Court on 14 February for obtaining benefits to which she was not entitled.
Catherine Haveron (39), of Connor Road, Parkgate, Ballyclare was given an 18 month suspended sentence after being found guilty of receiving Income Support to the value of £5,256 while working. The offences occurred between February 2001 and July 2003.
Miss Haveron has to repay the money she received to the Social Security Agency.
This case is the latest success in the Social Security Agency's campaign against benefit fraud. There have been 32 successful convictions since the start of the year. Last year 196 convictions were achieved.
