KILLYLEAGH MAN CONVICTED OF BENEFIT FRAUD

A man was convicted at Downpatrick Magistrates Court on 13 February for obtaining benefits to which he was not entitled.

Robert Davidson (39), of Osbourne Drive, Killyleagh was fined £800 after being found guilty of receiving Job Seekers Allowance to the value of £913 while working. The offences occurred between October 2003 and January 2004.

Mr Davidson has to repay the money he received to the Social Security Agency.

This case is the latest success in the Social Security Agency's campaign against benefit fraud. There have been 31 successful convictions since the start of the year. Last year 196 convictions were achieved.
