DOWNPATRICK MAN CONVICTED OF BENEFIT FRAUD
A man was convicted at Downpatrick Magistrates Court yesterday for obtaining benefits to which he was not entitled.
Mark Rogan (31), of Struell Close was given a 12 month conditional discharge after being found guilty of wrongfully claiming and receiving Income Support to the value of £331. The offences occurred between December 2002 and June 2003.
Mr Rogan has to repay the money he received to the Social Security Agency.
This case is the latest success in the Social Security Agency's campaign against benefit fraud. There have been 18 successful convictions since the start of the year. Last year 196 convictions were achieved.
