COLERAINE WOMAN CONVICTED OF BENEFIT FRAUD

A woman was convicted at Coleraine Magistrates Court on 6 January for obtaining benefits to which she was not entitled.

Catherine McIlreavy (24), of Oakvale was fined £150 after being found guilty of claiming Job Seekers Allowance of £1466 while working. The offences occurred between October 2002 and January 2003.

Mrs McIlreavy has to repay the money she received to the Social Security Agency.

This case is the latest success in the Social Security Agency's campaign against benefit fraud. Last year 196 convictions were achieved.
