BELFAST WOMAN CONVICTED OF BENEFIT FRAUD

A woman was convicted at Belfast Magistrates Court yesterday for cashing cheques and obtaining benefits to which she was not entitled.

Tracey Davidson (30), of Renfrew Walk, Belfast, was fined £350 and was given a 12 month conditional discharge after being found guilty of claiming and receiving Income Support to the value of £1,310. The offences occurred between December 2000 and June 2004.

Miss Davidson has to repay the money she received to the Social Security Agency.

This case is the latest in the Social Security Agency's campaign against benefit fraud, and brings the total convictions this year to 193.
