NEWTOWNARDS MAN CONVICTED OF £6,623 BENEFIT FRAUD

Thomas McBride (59) of Bangor Road, Newtownards, was found guilty of benefit fraud at Newtownards Courthouse today.

Mr McBride received a 12 month conditional discharge after being found guilty of claiming and receiving £6,623 Job Seekers Allowance whilst working between August 2001 and December 2003. Mr McBride has to repay the benefits that he received to the Social Security Agency and he also has to pay court costs.

This is the 190th successful conviction secured by the Social Security Agency since 1st January 2005.
