BALLYNAHINCH WOMAN CONVICTED OF BENEFIT FRAUD

A Ballynahinch woman who claimed £5,086 in benefits to which she was not entitled was convicted at Downpatrick Court yesterday.

Nora Donnan (23), of Shanvally Way, Ballynahinch, claimed Income Support and Housing Benefit as a single person when she was in fact living with a partner. She was given a conditional discharge by the court and is required by the Social Security Agency to repay the £5,086 which she falsely claimed.

This is the 181st prosecution this year by the Social Security Agency as part of its campaign to reduce benefit fraud.
