MINISTER JOINS RESIDENT’S 110TH BIRTHDAY PARTY
The Minister for Social Development, David Hanson, MP today presented a bouquet of flowers to a Holywood lady on her 110th birthday.
The Minister visited Spafield Fold in Holywood, where he congratulated one of the residents, Mrs Elizabeth Yensen, on her birthday. Mrs Yensen was born in Scotland but has lived in Northern Ireland for the last 70 years.
Expressing his admiration for Mrs Yensen’s alertness and sprightliness the Minister commented that it reflected well on the care and attention she receives from Fold and her friends in Spafield, where she has lived since 1985.

Fold Housing Association is one of 39 (including the Co-ownership Association) registered with the Department. Established in 1976, it was the first to be registered in Northern Ireland.
The Association operates Province-wide and is one of Northern Ireland’s leading providers of sheltered housing and care services for the elderly. It has developed a broad range of support services to assist the elderly and vulnerable. Most recently FOLD Telecare services have been launched, now providing support and security to nearly 17,000 people. In addition to supporting the elderly, FOLD provides general needs family housing.
Mrs Yensen was born on 25 July 1895 in Glasgow. She married a Danish man who was sent to Belfast with his work when Elizabeth was 40. She was 50 when the war ended. She had one daughter who has since died and has one grandson who is married with 3 children and lives in Scotland. Mrs Yensen has lived in the Spafield Fold, Holywood since it opened in the mid- eighties - it was officially opened in June 1985.
