DONEMANA BENEFIT CHEAT SENTENCED

Donemana woman, Sylvia Curry, was convicted in Strabane Court recently for defrauding the Social Security Agency. She had failed to declare her partner’s earnings and had falsely received more than £200 Income Support and more than £250 in Housing Benefit over a period of one month.

In addition to repaying the money, Ms Curry (49) of Allen Park, Donemana was sentenced to a fine of £150 on one charge and a conditional discharge for two years on four other charges.

This is the latest of a series of prosecutions brought by the Agency in its drive to clamp down on benefit fraud.
