BELFAST MAN CONVICTED OF FRAUD
A Belfast man, Robert Ingram, was convicted recently for wrongly claiming benefits from the Social Security Agency.
The 59-year-old man, from Ballysillan Park, Belfast, was fraudulently in receipt of benefit because he did not declare savings. The overpayments amounted to more than £5,000 over a period of a year.
Magistrate Nixon ordered that, in addition to paying back to the Social Security Agency the £5,294 he had falsely claimed, Mr Ingram pay court costs and a fine of £250.
This is the latest of a series of prosecutions brought by the Agency in its drive to clamp down on benefit fraud.
