FERMANAGH BENEFIT CHEATS CAUGHT

Ederney woman, Pauline Keegan and Denis Andrew Ryder from Belleek, were both convicted recently for wrongly claiming benefits from the Social Security Agency.

Mrs Keegan was fraudulently in receipt of Income Support. The overpayments amounted to more than £190 and have now been repaid in full.Magistrate, Mr P Murphy, imposed a conditional discharge for one year and ordered the defendant to pay £68 court costs.

Mr Ryder was also fraudulently in receipt of over £46 Income Support which he is now repaying. Magistrate Murphy imposed a two year conditional discharge and ordered the customer to pay £32 court costs.

These are the latest of a series of prosecutions brought by the Agency in its drive to clamp down on benefit fraud.
