LISBURN MAN CONVICTED OF FRAUD
A Lisburn man was recently convicted for wrongly claiming benefits from the Social Security Agency.
Mr Robert Harron (51), Iniscarn Park, Lisburn, was fraudulently in receipt of Income Support. The overpayments amounted to nearly £2,200 over a period of one year.
In addition to repaying the money to the Agency, the Magistrate imposed a conditional discharge for three years and a £100 fine, ordering the customer to pay £34 court costs.
This is one of the latest of a series of prosecutions brought by the Agency in its drive to clamp down on benefit fraud.
