BENEFIT CHEAT CONVICTED AT DOWNPATRICK MAGISTRATES COURT
Mr Sean Molloy, of 24 Drumcloon Walk, Downpatrick, Co Down, was convicted at Downpatrick Magistrates Court for fraudulently claiming housing benefit for seven years.
The 51-year-old man, pleaded guilty to receiving the overpayment, which amounted to over £5000.
Mr Molloy received a two month suspended sentence and was ordered to pay the court costs. He is also required to pay back the money to the Social Security Agency.
This is the latest of a series of prosecutions bought by the Agency in its drive to prevent benefit fraud.
